Advantages and disadvantages of solar power generation system

Jan 06, 2023

Solar power generation system is a technology that uses the photovoltaic effect to convert light into electricity. The key to the technology is solar cells. The solar power system is composed of solar panels, controllers, and batteries. Solar power systems are generated by sunlight, so they are less geographically constrained. In addition, the solar power system has many advantages, such as no noise, low pollution, a reliable system, a short construction cycle, and no material consumption.

Solar power generation systems are divided into off-grid solar photovoltaic power generation systems, grid-connected solar photovoltaic power generation systems, and distributed system Photovoltaic power generation systems.

Off-grid photovoltaic power generation system. It is mainly composed of solar cell modules, control modules, and batteries. It is to power the AC load system, with an AC inverter.

Grid-connected solar photovoltaic power generation system refers to the DC power generated by solar components converted into AC current conforming to commercial grid standards according to grid-connected inverter power supply, and then directly connected to the public grid. Large and medium-sized centralized grid-connected power plants are generally separate power plants, whose core feature is that the generating kinetic energy is immediately transferred to the grid, and the grid uniformly assigns power projects to users. However, this kind of power plant has a large investment, a long development cycle, a large area, and little development trend. Distributed small and medium-sized grid-connected power generation system, especially photovoltaic building integrated power generation system, is the mainstream of grid-connected power generation due to their characteristics of small investment, fast capital construction, small total area, and large current policy support.

Distributed system Photovoltaic power generation system is also known as distributed power supply or distributed system phosphagen, which refers to the installation of small and medium-sized photovoltaic power supply and distribution systems in or around the city where the customer is located, so as to adapt to the needs of special consumers, the economic situation of the current distribution network, or comply with the provisions of both.

Solar power generation systems can convert solar power into electromagnetic energy, which is first sent to the grid through the photovoltaic inverter, without energy storage in the battery. The solar power system represents the development direction of solar power generation and is an attractive technology for power energy utilization in the 21st century.

Advantages

(1) The application of clean-up renewable natural energy, solar power generation, does not consume resources, is a limited non-renewable resource, no air pollutants, and pollution emissions when used, coordinated with ecological environmental protection, to meet the social and economic sustainable development strategy.

(2) Energy will be fed into the power grid, and the power grid will be used as an energy storage device to eliminate the need for a battery. Compared with the photovoltaic power generation system alone, the infrastructure construction can be reduced by 35%-45% and the power generation cost can be reduced. Leaving out the battery can avoid the secondary pollution of the battery and improve the average time without problems in the system.

(3) The perfect integration of solar modules and buildings can not only generate electricity but also be used as architectural decoration materials and decorative materials to make good use of raw materials and give full play to various functions, which is not only conducive to reducing the cost of construction projects but also to improve the technical content of buildings.

(4) Distributed system infrastructure construction, distributed power supply system based on the principle of proximity, and easy access to the grid, not only help to improve the power engineering system resistance to war and disaster but also promote the improvement of the load balance of the power engineering system, reducing the line loss rate.

(5) Solar power generation systems can play the role of peak regulation. Connected photovoltaic power generation system is a hot topic and focuses on the photovoltaic application industry in the world's developed countries. It is the mainstream development trend of photovoltaic power generation in the world, with a huge sales market and broad prospects.

Disadvantages

(1)The use of pavement is intermittent and accidental, and the generation of electricity is related to natural conditions. It is unlikely or very rare to generate electricity during the day or on rainy days.

(2)Lower specific energy. Under standard conditions, the amount of solar radiation received by the road surface is 1000 W/m 2. When large sizes are applied, a relatively large total area should be used.

(3)The price is still quite expensive, and the early investment is high.
